On My Way to Living the Creative Life- Post #2

"Walk with the DREAMERS, the BELIEVERS, the COURAGEOUS, the CHEERFUL, the PLANNERS, the DOERS, the SUCCESSFUL people with their HEADS IN THE CLOUDS and their FEET ON THE GROUND."   - Wilfred Peterson

SKETCH, SKETCH, SKETCH, and SKETCH some more
I have been diligently working on sketching and adding some new images to my portfolio. One of the very best advise given to me as an artist was, "keep creating, keep doing art!" No matter what circumstance - there are always ways to stay inspired. Personally, I find my inspirations through fellow creative illustrators, my sons, reading, and my walks. I also find that when I start my day off in prayer; I clear my mind of every negativity and fill it with words that affirm me and shape me to a clear path.

Here it is and I'm at the half way point with my consulting and so far, I've managed to start doing weekly challenges with Illustration Friday and I think I might - dare I say- try this #twoodle thing going on every Wednesday. Challenging yourself as a creative is so important because when the  time comes for all of those assignment (that of course will be flowing in)- I want to have my creative juices going.

I have been adding several images to my website and really trying to fine tune my portfolio. I am also working on creating new images to promote for children's book and some images that can be used for licensing.

As I continue, I'll post some of those final images. Overall, I have been enjoying myself these last couple of weeks. I think my biggest struggle is to figure out what is it I want to achieve as the 'Soulful Artist'. I realized that I have to first create the work that I love, that sparks a joy in children and then TRUST! .... Trust and believe that what God has for me will be for me! The love of creating will shine through! I know I want to be able to generate a full- time income creating.  This time next year I would like to have several illustrations published via some magazines geared toward children and I am hoping that some doors will open up in the licensing arena. My dream clients; Simon and Schuster, Grosset & Dunlap Publishers-Penguin Group, Highlights are just a few. My ultimate dream project would be the opportunity to create a children's biography book.

Some things I am debating for now -

* joining SCBWI
* adding my portfolio on thatsmyfolio.com
